US Seeks Clinton Campaign Research In Sussmann Case

By Rachel Scharf (April 7, 2022, 8:42 PM EDT) — Prosecutors pursuing charges against former Perkins Coie LLP partner Michael Sussmann told a D.C. federal judge Wednesday that attorney-client privilege did not shield political opposition research conducted for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Special counsel John Durham is seeking an in camera review of various communications with investigative firm Fusion GPS for the May trial against Sussmann, who is charged with hiding his ties to the Clinton campaign during a September 2016 meeting with the FBI about a purported “secret channel” between Donald Trump and a Russian bank.
