The Financial Times reports Chinaâ€™s Personal Information Protection Law has increased demand for data protection officers. Xiang Li, who manages training courses for DPOs, said companies are looking for professionals with technology skills and government relations experience, as well as an understanding of Chinaâ€™s data laws. While salaries â€œhave soared,â€� Li said the â€œstrain on DPOs is immense,â€� as they could be held personally liable for any violations of Chinaâ€™s laws. DLA Piper Partner Carolyn Bigg said â€œambiguity in the PIPLâ€� compounds the strain on DPOs.
