Steve Bannon Seeks Delay Of July Trial, Cites Jan. 6 Hearings

By Ryan Boysen (June 30, 2022, 4:44 PM EDT) — Former Trump White House aide Steve Bannon has asked a D.C. federal judge to push back his July contempt trial for refusing to cooperate with the Jan. 6 House select committee, claiming the committee’s recent hearings have generated an “unprecedented level of prejudicial pretrial publicity.” 

In a brief motion filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court, Bannon asked that his trial for contempt of Congress — currently scheduled to begin July 18 — be continued until at least mid-October.
