The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has issued comments on the Non-Traditional and Emerging Transportation Technology (NETT) Council.
Here are some of the key recommendations:
Public transit systems should use anonymous credential verification systems to prevent location tracking instead of traditional swipe card or tap card systems which are less privacy protective. The DOT should recommend privacy safeguards banning the sale or transfer of user data from public or private transit systems. We should identify privacy as an issue for possible hyperloop systems and ensuring it is addressed early in development.
