Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan appointed the stateâ€™s first chief privacy officer and chief data officer. Laura Gomez-Martin, the previous deputy chief information security officer, has been appointed CPO. Sheâ€™ll be responsible for the stateâ€™s privacy program and data protection initiatives. Patrick McLoughlin has been appointed chief data officer, coming from engineering firm Johnson, Mirmiran, & Thompson where he was director of data solutions. He will supervise data use and management, facilitate interagency data sharing and produce a strategic state data plan.
