By Pete Brush (June 14, 2022, 5:51 PM EDT) — A jailed computer expert told a Manhattan federal jury Tuesday that he has falsely been labeled a “traitor,” arguing on his own behalf and denying charges accusing him of stealing CIA hacking secrets while he worked at the spy agency as a programmer and feeding the data to WikiLeaks.
Joshua Schulte, 33, wearing a gray suit, tie and dress shoes with no shoelaces, made his sometimes-rambling case for acquittal during opening arguments in a trial being overseen by U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman that could last up to five calendar weeks.
