Ex-Perkins Coie Atty Must Let Judge Review Fusion Emails

By Justin Wise (May 4, 2022, 4:16 PM EDT) — A D.C. federal judge said Wednesday that he plans to review additional sets of emails at the center of a privilege dispute in the run-up to a former Perkins Coie LLP partner’s trial for allegedly hiding his relationship with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in a 2016 meeting with the FBI.

U.S. District Judge Christopher R. Cooper granted the government’s motion for an in-camera review of documents following an hourlong hearing in which attorneys for Michael Sussmann, the defendant in the case, and the investigative firm Fusion GPS repeatedly argued that the communications between Perkins Coie and Fusion were protected by attorney-client privilege. …
