EDPB issues statement on EU digital, data strategies

The European Data Protection Board published its response and recommendations to the European Commission’s legislative proposals toward its digital and data strategies. The commission’s proposals include the Digital Services Act, Data Governance Act, regulation on artificial intelligence and more. The EDPB voiced concerns regarding how the proposed regulations lack sufficient protection of individuals’ fundamental rights and freedoms. Additionally, the board fears potential fragmented supervision, risks of inconsistencies, and lack of innovation and economic growth.
