Cyber Protections Helping To Curb Ransoms, Report Says

By Allison Grande (April 7, 2022, 12:17 AM EDT) — Robust cybersecurity safeguards increasingly being used by companies are driving down the size of ransomware payments, although the risk of facing at least one class action after an incident hasn’t decreased, according to a new BakerHostetler report.

In BakerHostetler’s eighth annual Data Security Incident Response Report, released on Thursday, the firm’s digital assets and data management team stressed that ransomware continues to be the “most prevalent and impactful type” of data security event it’s been tasked with managing.
