Baker Donelson, Insurer Can't Block $13B Ga. Privacy Suit

By Jack Karp (November 9, 2021, 3:40 PM EST) — A Georgia federal judge has nixed an attempt by an insurance company and Baker Donelson to halt a $13 billion state court case accusing the pair of illegal surveillance, ruling that the Georgia state court should resolve the entire dispute.

Several counts in American Family Insurance Co.’s declaratory judgment action filed in Georgia federal court, in which Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz PC intervened, should be dismissed because they fail to state a claim and are unlikely to succeed on the merits, according to the decision issued Friday.
